Please join us for a screening of Nechako: It Will Be a Big River Again, followed by a conversation with filmmaker Lyana Patrick.
The film tells the story of how the Kenney Dam diverted most of the Nechako River in the 1950s, devastating ecosystems and harming the Stellat’en and Saik’uz Nations. Seventy years later, these Nations are still fighting powerful institutions in a landmark legal case to restore the river’s flow.
Directed by Lyana Patrick of the Stellat’en First Nation, the film blends personal reflection with testimony from Elders, leaders, and land defenders. It’s a call to action that highlights how the health of the river is inseparable from community health.
This event is free. Donations at the door will go toward an honorarium for Lyana.
RSVP is required for entry.
